Dingley Village is a bustling suburb of Melbourne, located in the south-eastern part of the city in Victoria, Australia. It is known for its peaceful and picturesque environment, surrounded by sprawling parks, gardens, and wetlands while having easy access to major transport links such as the Dandenong Bypass and Eastlink.

The suburb is also rich in its history, which dates back to the early 1800s when Captain Ross embarked on a land grant in the area. In 1856, a creek that ran from Keysborough to Mordialloc was named in honor of the Ross family, hence the name Ross Creek ran through the suburb by the 1890s. The creek was later renamed to Dingley Creek in the early 1900s, after John Dingley, a successful businessman and member of the Legislative Council of Victoria.

The village officially came into existence in the 1920s as a residential area when the first housing estates were built in the area, with the aim of providing affordable housing for working-class families. This was significant as it was one of the first times that an entire suburb in Melbourne was developed in this manner. Prior to this, real estate development focused on more upper-class neighborhoods such as Brighton and Toorak.

During the 1930s and 1940s, Dingley Village saw further development of the land, with the establishment of several dairy farms in the area. The fertile land was ideal for dairy farming, and by the 1950s, the suburb was famous for its high-quality milk and dairy products that were supplied to surrounding areas, including Melbourne. Many of the original farms still exist in the area, even as the suburb has grown and evolved over the years.

As suburban living became more popular in the 1950s, the village experienced a surge in new residents and small businesses. The Post Office, which was initially located in a small wooden structure, was rebuilt in the 1960s and still exists today, serving the local community. Other essential services, such as schools, healthcare, and shopping centers, were also established in the region, enabling residents to live, work, and play in the suburb.

By the late 1980s, the suburb underwent significant changes, with the construction of new residential estates in the surrounding areas. This growth was accompanied by expansion of infrastructure, including the construction of new roads, expansion of services and facilities, including numerous parks, gardens, and walking trails. This has made Dingley Village a popular destination for both tourists and locals, with the added attraction of being situated near several famous attractions, such as the Dandenong Ranges, Phillip Island, and the Mornington Peninsula.

Today, Dingley Village has evolved into a vibrant suburban community of approximately 10,000 people that offers modern amenities and facilities, yet maintains its small-town charm. The suburb continues to attract young families, professionals, and retirees, with its green spaces, quality schooling, and easy access to Melbourne's bustling CBD. Local residents are proud of the village's rich heritage and are committed to preserving its history while moving forward towards a bright future.
